Like the pig, the dog has not had too benign a consideration in the context of the Abrahamic religious cultures. Had an unclean and contemptible, the dog was the symbol of ugliness and savagery. Even some Sufis referred to their nafs al-Ammara or egoic individuality as 'the dog'. On the contrary, Iranian religions, the dog was a quasi-sacred animal. Hence, according to Dr. Javad Nurbakhsh, loving Persian Sufism, which has so drunk that sediment pre-Islamic Iranian wisdom, show a much more benevolent attitude with which some designated as Friend most faithful man. Is the master himself Nematollahi Nurbakhsh citing some words of praise for the dogs' Ali ibn Abi Talib, cousin and son of Muhammad, the prophet of Islam, the first Shiite Imam, at the same time, the first link of all Sufis or initiatory chains Silsila, except the Naqshbandi of rigorous (and abnormal) Sunni orientation. It says Ali: "Happy are those who take the life of a dog!, Because his are the ten characteristics that every believer should have. First, no value between people. Second, it is a poor without worldly goods. Third : the whole earth is his resting place. Fourth, is hungry most of the time. Fifth: Do not leave the door of his master, even after having received a hundred lashes. Sixth: To protect your love, fight against the enemy and is kind to his friend. Seventh, is watching his master at night, never sleeps. Eighth, conducted most of their tasks quietly. Ninth, is pleased with what his master takes. And tenth, when he dies leaving no inheritance. "
